Autumn is right around the corner here in America.  Before we know it we will be seeing the leaves change colors and drift to the ground, smelling the spices of the season, and eventually stuffing ourselves with delicious turkey and pie.  Take advantage of the cooler days and gorgeous natural backdrop, and spend some time outdoors to capture some pictures to celebrate the season.

This frame is a great example of just how beautiful the oranges, reds, and yellows are this time of year.  Imagine yourself watching the leaves fall off the trees as you stroll through the woods, kicking the leaves around, and hearing them crunch under your feet.

Who could possibly resist this cowboy posing in the Fall foliage?  Not me!  Go on…Add yourself in there for fun, or take him out to jazz up your own pictures.  Look how the red leaves accent the frame.  Grab your favorite red sweater, snap a pic, and be prepared to fall in love with the scenery.

With school back in session, don’t forget to create some dazzling shots with the kids.  Grab their school pictures and have fun with this one!  What is sweeter than your little darlings faces embedded in logs with squirrels on top?  This one is sure to be a keeper, and will hang around long after the spectacular colors have disappeared.

Next stop: Camping!  This is the perfect time of year to find a secluded cabin in the woods to hide away for a weekend (or two!).  Just looking at this one, I can easily imagine being curled up next to a fireplace with a good book and great friends.

Last, we have autumn memories.  It’s important to stop and appreciate how Mother Nature shows herself during the changing of the seasons.  The beauty can be so short-lived, sometimes we forget to put the chaos that life brings aside and just enjoy for a bit.

I hope you will enjoy using these frames as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing them!

For the Best of series for the month of July, we here at Imikimi.com thought that we would showcase some beautiful imagery from NationalGeorgraphic.com. Using the theme of light and water, these images not only visually exhibit a beautiful digital contrast the water and light, but they also provide some great ideas for digital art projects that anyone can do….

This photo first caught our eye because it sort of reminds you of a storm around a beautiful lake maybe on the evening of fourth of July. What does it remind you of? A led light was used in this photograph to define the direction of the waves.

“The camera and film allowed me to extend my exposure time an hour or longer, though 40 minutes was often about right with the camera settings I needed.” Joel James Devlin
The photographer for this photo used a Mamiya 7, a medium-format rangefinder camera. This image can remind you of a humid July evening while taking a walk in your local park, trail or favorite wooded spot.

The light reflecting off of the water in what seems like an endless tunnel is not intriguing but brilliant photography done by National Geographic’s own Gordon Gahan.

Gentle Stream

The photographer used a small LED light floating on the stream to create this beautiful, peaceful as well as calming image.
“The speed of the light is quite important, so a gentle stream is ideal. If it was too still the light would just stay in one place and blow out [in the photo],” he said.
It is amazing how light can take an image to a whole other level. Whether using led light, other lighting or even altering an image using your favorite image editor, use the this months pics as an inspiration to explore the beauty of light outdoors. See what effects you can create.

May is such a wonderful month for taking photos.  One of the most inspiring and beautiful seasons fall in May, which is Spring. The most beautiful types of photos that can be taken, is of spring scenes. It can also be looked at as new beginnings. Isn’t that what spring is all about? It can be photos anywhere from open fields to blooming flowers.

One of the greatest things about photos is that everyone interprets them in their own way. What one person sees, another may not. That is the freedom photos bring to us. It can be a picture taken close up, or at a distance. Whichever way it is represented, you will have an opinion. Let’s take a look at some photos that can be regarded as May’s Best Photos:

This is the Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands. It’s also known as the Garden of Europe, the world’s largest flower garden. It is situated near Lisse, Netherlands.  According to the official website for the Keukenhof Park, approximately 7,000,000  flower bulbs are planted annually in the park, which covers an area of 32 acres.

Keukenhof is open annually from mid-March to mid-May. The best time to view the tulips is around mid-April, depending on the weather.

I would say, that these photo’s are One of the Best Photos of May. It depicts what May is all about. Close up of blooming tulips, stream with ducks, glorious mountains and overgrown trees for shade.
