Autumn is right around the corner here in America.  Before we know it we will be seeing the leaves change colors and drift to the ground, smelling the spices of the season, and eventually stuffing ourselves with delicious turkey and pie.  Take advantage of the cooler days and gorgeous natural backdrop, and spend some time outdoors to capture some pictures to celebrate the season.

This frame is a great example of just how beautiful the oranges, reds, and yellows are this time of year.  Imagine yourself watching the leaves fall off the trees as you stroll through the woods, kicking the leaves around, and hearing them crunch under your feet.

Who could possibly resist this cowboy posing in the Fall foliage?  Not me!  Go on…Add yourself in there for fun, or take him out to jazz up your own pictures.  Look how the red leaves accent the frame.  Grab your favorite red sweater, snap a pic, and be prepared to fall in love with the scenery.

With school back in session, don’t forget to create some dazzling shots with the kids.  Grab their school pictures and have fun with this one!  What is sweeter than your little darlings faces embedded in logs with squirrels on top?  This one is sure to be a keeper, and will hang around long after the spectacular colors have disappeared.

Next stop: Camping!  This is the perfect time of year to find a secluded cabin in the woods to hide away for a weekend (or two!).  Just looking at this one, I can easily imagine being curled up next to a fireplace with a good book and great friends.

Last, we have autumn memories.  It’s important to stop and appreciate how Mother Nature shows herself during the changing of the seasons.  The beauty can be so short-lived, sometimes we forget to put the chaos that life brings aside and just enjoy for a bit.

I hope you will enjoy using these frames as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing them!

As summer winds to an end we all get a little emotional.  Memories were made, vacations were taken, images captured.  What better way to commemorate these events than with this awesome frame?  It just screams summer with flip-flops, sand, sun, and seashells:

The beach has become iconic of the American summer vacation.  Families across the country take an average of 4.5  trips per year, and sun and sand are the most popular destinations. The end of summer also brings back-to-school preparations.  It might be your child’s first time off to kindergarten, or a nearly grown teenager returning to class.  Either way, we have to get ready.  We want them to look their best on that first day back.  Hair combed smoothly, wearing the trendiest looks to hide their nervousness.  Be sure to snap a shot of them as they head out the door.  They’re sure to complain, but you’ll be glad they did when you can look back at them in this frame in a few years:

While shopping for new clothes and shoes to wear, don’t forget to grab supplies!  Fill up that new backpack with brightly colored pencils, pens, folders, and notebooks.  The store shelves are filled with every character and color scheme the kids are into.  With more options than ever before, back-to-school will be a lot less “boring.”  Check out this frame for inspiration:

As the school year progresses, there are various concerts, plays, parties, and sporting events to record for future reminiscing.  Also, you cannot forget the everlasting school picture.  Using Imikimi frames will provide boring school pictures with the opportunity to shine, and they’ll make cherished keepsakes for friends and family:

Your child’s teacher plays a significant part of his or her school year.  Teachers are with the kids day in and day out and (usually) come to feel as if they are their own children.  Sneak a class picture while you’re on a field trip, or take a photo of the teacher from the yearbook and stick it here for a Christmas gift that’s sure to make her smile:

“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” ― Ansel Adams is a very wise man. This can be interpreted that everything you do and everything you have done defines the person that you are; all your experiences make you unique, including things as your favorite type of music or your taste in art. Imikimi frames are art ― each unique frame carries with it the person who made it. Likewise, the person who chooses each frame and what picture to put in it can be termed an artist of sorts.

Pictures & Music & Imikimi

It has been said and is pretty common to still hear now that a picture is worth a thousand words. According to Brigitte Bardot,  “A photograph can be an instant of life captured for eternity that will never cease looking back at you.” Imikimi provides thousands of ways to enhance these special instances in your life. If a photograph is worth a thousand words, an Imikimi frame with your photo in it is worth two-thousand words!

Like photographs, music can also take us through time and all eternity. Hans Christian Andersen once said, “Where words fail, music speaks.” Likewise, Kahlil Gibran stated, “Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife.” Music means so many things to so many different people. It hurts and is sad, yet it has the power to heal and make happy. “Music is the universal language of mankind.” ― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Since pictures and music are so powerful within themselves, why not combine them? Imikimi has many artists who have done just that! Take a look and don’t forget to check out Imikimi.com to find your perfect frame!

For the Best of series for the month of July, we here at Imikimi.com thought that we would showcase some beautiful imagery from NationalGeorgraphic.com. Using the theme of light and water, these images not only visually exhibit a beautiful digital contrast the water and light, but they also provide some great ideas for digital art projects that anyone can do….

This photo first caught our eye because it sort of reminds you of a storm around a beautiful lake maybe on the evening of fourth of July. What does it remind you of? A led light was used in this photograph to define the direction of the waves.

“The camera and film allowed me to extend my exposure time an hour or longer, though 40 minutes was often about right with the camera settings I needed.” Joel James Devlin
The photographer for this photo used a Mamiya 7, a medium-format rangefinder camera. This image can remind you of a humid July evening while taking a walk in your local park, trail or favorite wooded spot.

The light reflecting off of the water in what seems like an endless tunnel is not intriguing but brilliant photography done by National Geographic’s own Gordon Gahan.

Gentle Stream
Photograph by: Joel James Devlin

The photographer used a small LED light floating on the stream to create this beautiful, peaceful as well as calming image.
“The speed of the light is quite important, so a gentle stream is ideal. If it was too still the light would just stay in one place and blow out [in the photo],” he said.
It is amazing how light can take an image to a whole other level. Whether using led light, other lighting or even altering an image using your favorite image editor, use the this months pics as an inspiration to explore the beauty of light outdoors. See what effects you can create.

Photo Opts.. June’s Best Photos

Although Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial summer kick-off holiday, June is the first full month of the Summer Season. The month of June means that elementary and high schools are finishing up their academic years and families are heading out on vacation to engage in any number of summer oriented activities. In this post I wanted to highlight some of the images that not only allow us to think of the summer season’s first full month, but those we find inspiring as well.

Activity #1: Picnicking and Barbequing: In my opinion there’s nothing better than the aroma one smells of food cooking on the grill or fresh fruit and salads coming out of a picnic basket located on the beach or by a lake. Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Chicken, Pasta Salads, Watermelon, and Fresh Baked Cookies are all some of my favorite summer-inspired dishes, what are some of yours?

Activity #2: Camping & Fishing: One of my most memorable and inspiring summers came when I was a little boy and my uncle took me fishing on the lakes of the Adirondack Mountains. We’d fix ourselves a camp site, pitch the tent, make a fire very night and roast marshmallows under the starry night sky. Each morning, we’d wake up and launch our three-person row boat off the shore and set out on a fishing adventure that began with Sun Fish and ended with Trout. Have memorable moments from your childhood, ever inspired you as a parent?

Activity #3: The Beach: For those of you who prefer crashing waves and beautiful sunsets over the calm and still beauty of a lake-based atmosphere, then the beach is the place to be. As the waves crash on the sandy shores, I think from an artistic perspective and strongly believe that a new canvas unfolds during each tidal cycle. One of things I love about the beaches here on the East Coast is that during the month of June, tidal cycles tend to deliver the clearest water during the summer months, and that clarity is what inspires me.

May is such a wonderful month for taking photos.  One of the most inspiring and beautiful seasons fall in May, which is Spring. The most beautiful types of photos that can be taken, is of spring scenes. It can also be looked at as new beginnings. Isn’t that what spring is all about? It can be photos anywhere from open fields to blooming flowers.

One of the greatest things about photos is that everyone interprets them in their own way. What one person sees, another may not. That is the freedom photos bring to us. It can be a picture taken close up, or at a distance. Whichever way it is represented, you will have an opinion. Let’s take a look at some photos that can be regarded as May’s Best Photos:
