Hello, fellow artists! It’s the Imikimi Team here. We hope you’re doing well, and are hungry for another feature revolving around arts and crafts! Because today, we have precisely that for you. Here at Imikimi, we’re all about wanting to make you feel inspired, each and every day. As we’ve said time and time again, inspiration is the key. And seeing the amazing creations of others is a fantastic way to get those creative juices flowing. So today we’ll hope you’ll find value in a little site by the name of Oh So Beautiful Paper.
Established not so long ago in 2008, Oh So Beautiful Paper is an inspiration blog made in hopes that you’ll say those very words. Paper is what it’s all about here, from scrapbooking, wedding invitations, greeting cards, stationery, screen printing, paper craft, calligraphy, and everything in between. While paper was once a highly valued commodity, now its presence is ubiquitous: reams of paper in your desk, papers on your refrigerator, Post-It notes stuck everywhere, waste bins full of crumpled up paper… Oh So Beautiful Paper is, post-by-post, reclaiming the notion that paper is still alive with purpose and beauty and artistic possibilities.
Let’s go ahead and take a stroll on over to the Oh So Beautiful Paper homepage. It follows the traditional blog layout, with the newest blogs posted at the top (also known as “reverse chronological order”). Scrolling down the homepage will give merely a brief glimpse of what can be found. To really dig into the meat and potatoes, on the right-hand side you’ll find a list of categories. We recommend this as your starting point. Go ahead and click a link which piques your interest. In this case, we’re going to be taking a look at “real invitations.”
Sure, not all of us go giddy at the thought of marriage invitations, but that’s not the point here. Within this category lies some of the most beautiful examples of works created using paper as the medium that you’re likely to find. Scroll down to see just some of the amazing works! You’ll see calligraphy, letterpress work, die-cutting, and more. The number of different processes which go into some of these invitations is simply astounding. And these aren’t your parent’s invitations, either; some of these are downright hip and awesome, the work is bold and stunning. Just take a look at Alecia + Jon’s invitations.
The first image alone is enough to pull you in. The neon color grabs your attention, and the strong use of type draws your eyesight from top to bottom. Below are more detailed shots of the invitation and the even the envelope. Just viewing those lets you see the amount of nuance and care that has gone into creating something memorable for such a memorable even. There are so many other great ones, as well! Christine + Ian’s woodland invitations are equally gorgeous. And Danielle + Paul have invitations with an awesome retro feel. So go ahead and let Oh So Beautiful Paper inspire your next project, making you rethink what you thought you knew could be done with paper.
Thanks so much for taking time to drop by the official blog of Imikimi! We always appreciate your readership, and hope you will come by again soon for more awesome features. See you soon!
