Hello, fellow artists! It’s the Imikimi Team here, back once again to show you a little of what’s awesome in the digital art world of the internet. Today, we’re going to feature another amazing artist who’s been making her mark in the art and design community over the past few years. In fact, you may have even seen her work out in the real world but didn’t even know it. Prepare to be delighted as we show you the amazing work of Jessica Hische.
A graduate of the Tyler School of Art with a BA in Graphic Design, Jessica has grown to become one of the rising stars within the realm of design. While she is capable of tackling multiple different areas, she is perhaps best known for her beautiful lettering. Somewhat different than typography, lettering involves the hand-crafting of bespoke words and letters. This means that she did not simply grab an awesome font and punch out some words on her keyboard, but rather that she lovingly creates all her lettering uniquely for each project.
If we take a moment to direct our browsers to the clever (and accurate) address http://www.jessicahische.is/awesome. Here you’ll find a gorgeous page with a picture of her workspace as the background, which lists some of her well-known projects, as well as links to her different types of work. Let’s take a look at some of this by clicking on “letterer.” You’ll now be taken to all of Jessica’s work involving lettering and type, with one of her most recent projects presented before you, along with a little bit of information.
Clicking on the project names on the right will change the project displayed, enabling you to peruse through a large collection of her work. There are so many fantastic works here, that to see them all, you’ll want to click “MORE” at the bottom of the list. If you were to go through all of her work, it is highly probable that you have at some point seen Jessica’s work. Perhaps you’ve walked past the lettering she’s done for a Target gift card, or thumbed through her editorial lettering in a magazine, purchased one of her re-designs of classic novels at Barnes & Noble, or bought a stamp with her work on it. (Hint: be sure to click the numbers to the lower right of each image to see more views of that project.)
Not just limited to lettering, Jessica Hische is also a talented illustrator. Click on “Portfolio” at the top of the page to see the drop-down menu. From here, select “Illustration.” This section can be navigated just as the others.
Oh, and just for fun, do you see the upper right of the site? See how the buttons there are set to “Normal?” Try clicking on “Teen Girl Mode.” We don’t want to spoil the surprise, but let’s just say that the MySpace “glitter-graphics” of yore have been resurrected in a small sense here…
As always, we here at Imikimi want to thank you so much for taking the time to stop by our blog. We hope you’ve found this feature on Jessica Hische to be highly enjoyable and inspiring, and we hope you’ll now keep an eye out for her world in the real world (although it can surely be found all over the web, as well). Come by again soon, as we’ll have more features ready for your prompt consumption. See you then!
