Hello, faithful artists! It’s the Imikimi Team here, as always, ready to spoon-feed you yet another fantastically useful resource for your hungry mind! Sometimes our sprint towards mastery as artists can become a dull, slow trudge. For most of us, feeling uninspired is the number one culprit. Despite what it may seem, even the greatest of artists do not have endless amounts of inspiration and creativity. Sometimes we need to replenish those stores, and today we’re going to help you do exactly that with the Noupe Design Blog.
A sister-site to Smashing Magazine, one of the most respected design and development blogs on the web, the Noupe Design Blog is a wonderful mash-up of all things design and inspiration. This is perfect for the up-and-coming artist, blending together creativity and learning into one consistently updated blog. The blog covers a wide variety of topics and styles of posts, from photography, coding, Photoshop, freebies, inspirational posts, editorials, artist showcases and freebies. Fresh new features abound here at Noupe.com, so it’s best to check back regularly in hopes of more.
The editorial features and opinion columns are truly what make this blog stand out as one of the best around. The staff write insightful, helpful articles that truly provoke thought within young and old designers alike. For instance, take a look at their article How to Improve as a Graphic Designer, or perhaps one instilling wisdom about which type of designer not to be. Inside, they really break down the wall of the internet to foster a relationship with their readers, one of learning and reciprocation. These help their audience learn the finer points of being an artist, stepping your game up as a designer, etc. This helps instill theory, in addition to the science of “click here, then there, and then there.” Although Noupe does also offer fantastic tutorials which teach just that, it is best to combine the two types, answering the “why” as well as the “how.” Fear not about the heavy use of the term “design” throughout the site, for design and art share common territory, especially now with today’s technology.
So let’s take a peek at the “Design” category in the upper right-hand side of the website. Clicking on this will take you to everything categorized as such, and this category includes tons of others inside. You’ll find tutorials, opinion editorials, free resources, posts of inspirational works by amazing artists, interviews, etc. Interviews tend to be an oft-overlooked feature, most likely due to their text-heavy nature. These are not just people talking about themselves, but about their experiences along the way to success, the pitfalls they avoided, mistakes that were made, and what was learned. Most everyone has thoughts of “if only I knew then what I know now,” so we highly recommend taking the time to read a few of these, as you will learn in minutes the bits of knowledge which took these artists years to discover.
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by the Imikimi Blog once again! As always, more and more features laid out before you in the days, weeks, and months to come! We’ll see you soon!
