Reclaim Your Inspiration with AbduzeedoNovember 15, 2011 at 11:00 am | Posted in Conventional Art | Leave a comment
Hello, fellow artists!
As the saying goes, “art is never finished, only abandoned.” While that may be true, what is also true is that art will forever begin with inspiration. Our inspiration gives us the direction we need to move forward. Unfortunately, sometimes our well of inspiration seems to be tapped dry. In times like those, staring at a half-finished canvas or computer screen can be the last thing we want to do. Thankfully, the amazing website Abduzeedo is there for us in times of need.
Founded by Brazilian designer Fabio Sasso, Abduzeedo is a veritable spring of inspiration and resources. Each day, “Daily Inspiration” posts are published, containing nearly one hundred stunning images. These range from photography, 3D modeling, logo design, photo-manipulation, traditional art, sculpture, fashion, and even video. Now approaching its 1000th post, these “Daily Inspiration” images are one of the best ways to refresh your mind when you feel you’ve run out of ideas. It’s not that we have truly run out of ideas, but sometimes we just have to reorganize our thoughts to bring them to the front. And looking at great works by other artists is a wonderful way to achieve that.
The art and design community moves forward miles and miles each day, so to keep up would be quite the chore. To save some time, Abduzeedo features the stop stories of the week. These are handpicked by the staff as the best of the best, covering both images and articles/news from around the web. Occasionally featured are roundups of stories and/or images pertaining to a particular theme or event.
Abduzeedo is not just merely a website sharing inspiration, but also resources. For those wishing to learn more, the site offers in-depth tutorials on how to re-create incredible pieces of art, step-by-step, in a variety of different software packages. “Case studies” delve in-depth into an artist’s process and demonstrate the work’s progression from blank canvas to finished piece. And when you prefer something a little more short and sweet, take a look at their “Quick Tips” section under their tutorials. Pick up a great technique without spending very much time reading!
Also, as a freebie for visitors, the “Wallpaper of the Week” is offered. Each week, a different artist’s work is featured. The wallpaper can then be downloaded in a vast selection of resolutions. Nearly every device of yours can be adorned with beautiful art, from your desktop all the way to your iPad and iPhone.
Perhaps one of the site’s most enlightening features are the interviews. Successful artists sit down and share their knowledge with Abduzeedo in a Q & A session. Inside is information about their background, process, experience, and the path that led them to success (in addition to a few tips on techniques)!
Thanks for dropping by and reading. Let us know what you think about Abduzeedo and tell us what you’d like to see us feature next! There’s lots more to come soon, so please come by soon!
